I just got back from a very memorable trip. I took the Greyhound, i rode to Evansville Indiana round trip for $102.00 i couldn't have drove there for that price.Let alone the round trip i figured it would cost me around $220 in gas.But getting back home reality sat in and weighed down on me hard.As my friend went to the gas station to fuel up his Jeep it took 14 gallons and a cool $50 dollar bill.
Here i am thinking im on a fixed income as alot of people are i am staying home alot more i don't have no choice. If i decide to put like $50 bucks in the gas tank then im not getting as many groceries as i could few years ago. It's just down right depressing and the sad part of it is where is it gonna end? I only see it getting worse it's sad when we can look back and complain about gas getting to $1.50 a gallon that was the good old days compared to nows outrageous rip off.
I keep waiting for our good ole commander and chief to step up and do something about it but since he's a oil man himself he and his buddies are getting stupidly rich while we go broke and/or hungry. If he wanted to stimulate the economy why not freeze the price of gasoline and diesel?Set the fuel prices at $2.00 a gallon people would have more money to buy other goods that would do more for the economy than putting most of a pay check in a gas tank each week.
Then i seen a magazine encouraging me to ride the bus or subway more well in my neck of the woods of iowa there is no local transit bus that makes runs every half hour or so no commuter trains or passenger train im 30 mile round trip from town and don't have alot of choices. I could sell my house and move to the city who would want to buy a old house 30 miles from no where with skyrocketing gas prices?Food prices have gone way up thanks to the increasing cost of diesel fuel.I hope that these yuppie global eco nuts that seem to be helping drive up gas and diesel fuel so high that it makes millions go without food will feel good when it's drove the country or the world into a depression.I don't know what's coming for sure but to me it's more scary than anything Al Gore can cook up. What i see is real and its here right now and getting worse by the week. I'm not least bit worried about something coming down the road 40-50 years from now i don't plan on being around by then since im 42 now.Besides our local weather can't predict a forecast right over 12 hours anymore so im not to worried about 40 years down the road. But one thing you can predict for sure is higher gas prices and higher food prices they are a reality and getting bigger and badder. When will it stop and how? You sure don't see the greed mongers stepping up and trying to do something about it when they are getting rich.In the mean time since i got plenty of time to kill at home now i plan on spending time in my garden. Hang on people i don't think we're to the top of this roller coaster yet.
