Iowa Drivers Licenses by mail is safer ?

The state of Iowa wants to try to protect our identity better so they come up with the bright idea of mailing our new drivers license cards to us by mail? Come on you got to be kidding me! There is so many thieves out there who just love to steal peoples mail in hopes of getting a credit card or any other piece of information with our names on. Quote:"It's a mechanism we're using to help ensure our process does not lend itself to identity theft," said Shirley Andre, director of the Iowa Department of Motor Vehicles. http://www.desmoinesregister.com/article/20090202/NEWS10/902020323
I don't know what Miss Andre is smoking? To think that my identity is safer by trusting the United States Postal Service in getting this vital piece of imformation to my mail box when you see they have recently found letters thats been lost for over 80 years its kind of stupid if you ask me. She hasn't convinced me that im to feel safer with this process. I figure the Iowa DOT logo will be on the return address of this envelope and any person will now know what it is by feel and from return address I would sure think? Just how they can think this is gonna make it tougher to obtain ones identity is beyond me?
I thought it was pretty safe the way it was you had to present your drivers license that was about to expire to the DMV in person and pay the fees have your new picture taken and received a new on the spot which made it pretty hard to steal someones identity at that point from a drivers license unless you lost it after this process. This sure doesn't make me feel safer at all about having my identity stolen now. Thanks to the Iowa Department of Transportation for trying to fix something that didn't seem to be broken and looks like it made it easier for our identity to be stolen. Ms. Andre goes on to say quote: "The licenses will not go through the U.S. Post Office, but will instead be sent to a separate facility where they are mixed in with other mail "so there's nothing that tells anyone that they're worth stealing," Andre said. "There are some pretty secure methods to send the licenses." I don't know how she figures it will get to my mailbox any other way than U.S. postal service? And if it goes to a separate facility this is supposed to make me feel safe? Are they gonna pay for everything should our driver license cards and our identity gets stolen thanks to this process? Any sort of thief I think would be able to tell there is some sort of rigid card in any particular piece of mail. And I would think they would take it on mere chance of getting a credit card or now your drivers license. Gee thanks now i got to live in fear for 10 days after renewing my drivers license til I get it in my mail that "WILL NOT" go through the U.S. Post Office but yet will show up in my U.S. Post office mail box out at the end of my driveway. If you figured this one out your doing better than I am. Good Luck fellow Iowans upon renewal of your licenses.
